Recalled cribs pose falling, entrapment and choking hazards

On June 6, 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs, manufactured by Simplicity, Inc. The recalled cribs have incorrect assembly instructions which, if followed, may allow the crib’s drop side to disengage from the crib. This poses falling and entrapment hazards to the child.
The crib’s metal locking pins on the drop side can also pop off, creating a choking hazard for the child if the child mouths the dropped pins.
In total, 40,000 Nursery-in-a-Box cribs are being recalled. They are cherry, white, or natural in color.
Recalled cribs include models 8910 and 8050. The serial numbers are 3005HY through 0806 HY. Serial numbers are printed on an envelope permanently attached to the mattress support as well as on a label found on the bottom rail of the headboard.
The recalled cribs were sold between August 2005 and May 2007 for approximately $200.
