FDA recalls more toothpaste with diethylene glycol

On June 13, 2007 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an urgent nationwide recall of Mainstar America, LLC’s toothpaste made in China. The FDA believes the products may contain the poisonous chemical diethylene glycol, which is used in antifreeze as a solvent.
The recalled Mainstar America toothpastes include:
- Dr. Cool Toothpaste 120GR./ 4 OZ
- Superdent Toothpaste 120 GR./ 4 OZ
- Everfresh Smile2 Toothpaste 25 GR./ 1 OZ
The FDA has told consumers to stop using and return all products to the stores where they made the purchase immediately. Officials also want store owners to examine their inventories and to quarantine the recalled Mainstar products.
