Honda motorcycle recall initiated for various VFR800 models

08/22/07

On August 21, 2007, Honda issued a motorcycle recall for 2002-2005 VFR800 motorcycles due to an apparent product defect.

The electrical grounding load of the headlights, front turn signals, instrument panels, and various relays is transferred by an 18-pin connector via the front fairing sub-harness. The ground wire terminals inside of the 18-pin connector can overheat. Overheating may melt the connector and cause power loss to various circuits as a result. This could cause a sudden loss of engine power or critical lighting, which could lead to a motorcycle accident.

Dealers will remove the old sub-harness and install a re-designed model. If any damage is discovered, the main wiring harness will be replaced for free. Owners may contact *Honda *regarding the motorcycle recall at 1-866-784-1870.
