09/06/07

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced an alert on September 4, 2007, informing consumers that Jubee Bunk Beds by d-Scan Inc., do not comply with federal safety standards. A wooden side slat that serves as support can separate from the bed frame, causing the upper bunk to collapse.

The recalled bunk beds have led to seven incidents filed with the company. No injuries have been reported yet.

About 500 d-Scan bunk beds are being recalled. Only model number 82008 is involved with this recall. The recalled bunk beds are made of maple wood and have a four-step ladder attached to the side and three pullout drawers under the bottom bunk. The recalled d-Scan bunk beds have no markings or labeling.

They were sold at specialty furniture stores nationwide and on various Web sites between December 2004 and April 2006. They recalled bunk beds retailed for about $600.

According to the CPSC, consumers should stop using the bunk beds immediately. Consumers may contact d-Scan at 7-800-932-2006 or through its website.
