On September 12, 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a product safety recall on Cook’s Essentials Convection Ovens with Pull-Out Rotisserie and Deni Convection Ovens with Rotisserie; both manufactured by Keystone Manufacturing Co. Inc. of Buffalo, N.Y.

The recall arises from the product’s wires, located behind the control panel, possibly overheating. This can potentially pose fire and electric shock hazards.

The recall only involves Cook’s Essentials Convection Ovens with Pull-Out Rotisserie with model number 910500 and Deni Convection Oven with Rotisserie model number 10500. The brand name “Cook’s Essentials” or “Deni” is found on the front right panel of the oven.

Cook’s Essentials Convection Ovens with Pull-Out Rotisserie were sold through QVC, and Deni Convection Ovens with Rotisserie were sold through QVC outlet stores as well as various on-line retailers from October 2006 through May 2007 for around $125.

The recalled convection ovens have led to 49 incident reports, including 5 minor burns, 5 electrical shocks, and 11 incidents of minor property damage to kitchen cabinets and countertops.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop use of the ovens and contact QVC or Keystone Manufacturing for a replacement or refund. Consumers who purchased Cook’s Essentials through a QVC broadcast or at QVC.com may contact QVC at 1-800-367-9444 between 7am and 1am ET, 7 days a week or visit QVC’s website.

Consumers who purchased their Cook’s Essentials oven at a QVC outlet or at a retail store should return the oven to the store for a refund. Consumers who purchased a Deni brand oven may contact Keystone Manufacturing at 1-800-336-4822 between 9am and 5pm ET, Monday through Friday or visit Deni’s website.
