Campbell’s recalls Chunky Baked Potato Soup due to choking risk

On October 4, 2007, Campbell Soup Company recalled about 72,300 cans of Campbell’s Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits Soup because the cans may include pieces of hard plastic which could cause a choking hazard. There were three reports of consumers receiving minor injuries in and around the mouth due to the plastic.
The recalled soup cans have a code on the bottom of the can that reads “JUL 08 2009 07097.” No other Campbell’s products are being recalled. Recalled soup was distributed to stores in 24 states, including:

- Arkansas
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Nebraska
- New Mexico
- Nevada
- North Dakota
- Oklahoma
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Utah
- Wyoming
Consumers should not eat the recalled soups, and are advised to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or exchange. Consumers can contact Campbell at 888-453-3868.
