Honda Motor Co. recalls Acura TL cars due to possible deterioration of power steering hose

03/14/08

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) announced a recall by Honda Motor Co. for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Acura TL cars. High under-hood temperatures in the vehicles can lead to deterioration of the power-steering hose, which can then lead to leaks of power steering fluid. Such a malfunction can potentially lead to a catastrophic injury from a car accident.

More than 273,000 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Acura TL cars were recalled after Honda Motor Co. found that the high temperatures under the hood of the car can lead to smoke and fire hazards.

The ODI recommends that consumers take their 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Acura TL vehicles to a local dealer, where the power steering hose can be replaced with a new heat resistant one. Acura owners can contact Honda Motor Co. for more information at 1-800-382-2238.
