On December 21, 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of about 1,000 Sterling Silver Teething Rings by Empire Silver Company. The silver ball that holds the ring in place can separate, releasing the beads inside and posing a serious choking and aspiration hazard to infants.
