Atrial fibrillation is a heart rhythm disorder that usually involves a rapid heart rate, in which the upper heart chambers are stimulated to contract in a very disorganized and abnormal manner.

General Information

In October 2007, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released its conclusion of a review of bisphosphonate drugs after a New England Journal of Medicine questioned the association of atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder, with bisphosphonate drugs, which are used primarily to increase bone mass and reduce risks of fracture in osteoporosis patients.
