On October 12, 2007, J.C. Penney recalled about 2,000 “Alyssa” Shag Rugs because the products failed to meet federal standards for flammability, and could catch fire. On the same day, Fisher Controls International (FCI) recalled about 144,000 gas regulators because gas can leak from them, posing a fire hazard to customers.

The J.C. Penney recall involves “Alyssa” shag rugs in the following sizes and shapes:

• 2 feet by 3 feet oval;
• 4 feet by 6 feet oval;
• 8 feet by 11 feet oval;
• 8 feet round; and
• 2 feet by 6 feet rectangular runner.
