Michael Brown v. Johnson & Johnson

Case Number: 0640013
Court: North District of Ohio (Toledo)
Plaintiffs: Michael Brown
Defendant: Johnson & Johnson
Status: Case Settled Out of Court

Michael Brown filed suit against Johnson & Johnson for the death of 14-year-old Alycia Brown. Alycia Brown suffered two blood clots in her lungs on May 7, 2004 and died after the use of the Ortho-Evra Patch for several weeks.

Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle the lawsuit prior to going to trial.

The Brown agreement is in the file of a lawsuit by survivors of Zakiya Kennedy, who was 18 years old when she died on April 2, 2004 after using the patch. Court records show that a confidential settlement was reached in that case on October 11, 2007.
