Details

Product: Arcoxia
Manufacturer: Merck & Co., Inc.

Arcoxia (generic name: etoricoxib) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or N-SAID, available for prescription in 63 countries and marketed by Merck and Co. Arcoxia is marketed for the relief of pain from rheumatoid arthritis, acute “gouty” arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other pain. Arcoxia is marketed as Algix and Tauxib in Italy.

On April 12, 2007, a panel of drug advisors voted 20-1 to reject an application by Merck and Co. to market its arthritis pain medication Arcoxia (etorixocib) in the United States because of concerns that the drug could lead to a greater risk of heart attacks and strokes.
