Model year 2003 through 2006 Nissan Muranos were recalled on March 24, 2006 due to a design flaw in the fuel tank. The location of part of the fuel tank makes it susceptible to damage from small, sharp debris that may get kicked up while the vehicle is in motion. If the front wheel runs over a sharp object in the road, the fuel tank could puncture, posing a fire hazard.
