Clozaril
Leponex; Fazaclo; Gen-Clozapine
Clozaril was the first atypical antipsychotic to be marketed in the U.S. Atypical antipsychotics have been associated with increased mortality rates. After a rise in mortality in elderly patients on atypical antipsychotic medications, Clozaril’s label was updated in April 2005 to indicate that it is not approved for the treatment of dementia in elderly patients.
