Exelon Patch
Manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., Exelon was approved in July 2007 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Exelon, known generically as rivastigmine, is used to treat Alzeimer’s disease. The new drug is a patch version of an already-available capsule form.
In August 2007, the FDA sent a warning letter to Novartis about safety and effectiveness claims the company made about Exelon.
