Diabetic neuropathyis a nerve disorder cause by diabetes. Nerve problems can occur in every organ system, including the digestive tract, heart and sex organs.
About 60 to 70 percent of diabetic patients have some form of neuropathy. The risk of developing neuropathy increases with age and with longer duration of diabetes.

- numbness in the hands, arms, feet and legs

Peripheral neuropathy is a type of diabethic neuropathy, and is a nerve damage in the arms and legs. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include:
* numbness or insensitivity to pain or temperature, * a tingling, burning, or prickling sensation, * sharp pains or cramps, * extreme sensitivity to touch, even light touch, and * loss of balance and coordination.
Symptoms are often worse at night.
