Selzentry, manufactured by Pfizer Inc., is a CCR5-blocking entry inhibitor used to treat HIV-positive patients with HIV strains resistant to multiple other HIV drugs. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in August 2007. In order to be effective, Selzentry must be combined with other HIV drugs.

The common side effects in patients taking Selzentry therapy in clinical trials are cough, fever, colds, rash, muscle and joint pain, stomach pain, and dizziness. Liver toxicity was also seen in some patients using the drug. In addition, heart attacks were more prevalent in patients taking Selzentry when compared to a placebo.
