Viracept
Nelfinavir (generic)
On September 10, 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Pfizer Inc. warned patients about an impurity in HIV drug Viracept that could lead to cancer. The agency and company also said children and pregnant women should not begin taking the drug.
Viracept was found to contain Ethyl methanesulfonate, a possible cancer-causing agent.
