Cook’s Essential Electric Toasters

Details

Manufacturer: QVC, Inc.

On December 11, 2007, three companies recalled products that can pose fire or burn hazards to consumers.

QVC Inc. recalled about 13,000 Cook’s Essential Electric Toasters; Farouk Systems Inc. recalled about 5,700 hairstyling irons; and Gamenamics Inc. recalled about 1,100 air-powered hockey tables.

QVC’s recall came after the company received five reports of the toasters turning on spontaneously, including two incidents of burned property and one incident of damage to a kitchen cabinet.

Recalled QVC toasters are chrome two-slice electric toasters with model number CT200. Each toaster has “Cook’s Essentials” and “Model: CT200” printed on a plate on the bottom of the toaster. QVC’s televised shopping programs, as well as the company’s web page, toll-free number, and its’ outlet, employee, and studio stores, sold the recalled toasters from May 2000 through May 2003 for between $50 and $60.

Consumers are advised to unplug and stop using the recalled electric toaster immediately, and return it to QVC using prepaid shopping labels the company will provide. Consumers who purchased the toasters at a QVC outlet or retail store should return them to the store where purchased for a refund.
