Medical Description
Depression is a human psychiatric disorder when a person endures intense feelings of sadness, melancholy and despair. Depression affects between seven and 18 percent of the population at some point before a person reaches the age of 40.
There are many different believed causes of depression. Many believe victims of depression are genetically predisposed to the disease, and because of that, there are chemical imbalances in their neurological systems.
Many people believe depression is brought on by medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, hepatitis, mononucleosis, and hypothyroidism, among others. Many people also believe the disease is brought on by imbalanced diets, substance abuse and sleeping patterns.
A list of sociopsychological problems are also accepted as probable causes of depression. That list includes loss, separation, and new and novel experiences, to name a few.
