DDAVP Nasal Spray
Desmopressin
DDAVP Nasal Spray, also known as desmopressin, is used to treat nighttime bedwetting, and to manage a temporary increase in thirst and urination caused by an injury or surgery. It may also be used to treat certain types of diabetes. DDAVP Nasal Spray works by causing the kidneys to produce less urine.
On December 4, 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a safety alert for desmopressin, or DDAVP Nasal Spray. The agency said certain patients are at risk of developing hyponatremia, which is an abnormally low concentration of sodium in the blood that can cause seizures and death.
