Luvox
fluvoxamine
Luvox is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) class. Luvox was approved by the FDA for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder in December of 1994.
While side effects cannot be anticipated, some common reactions associated with Luvox are abnormal ejaculation, agitation, anxiety, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, indigestion, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, sleepiness, sweating, tremor, vomiting, weakness and weight loss.
In July 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated information about SSRI’s to include facts about a life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome. This condition occurs when SSRI’s are taken at the same time as medicines used to treat migraine headaches, called triptans.
