Duetact

Glimepiride and pioglitazone

Manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Duetact is a combination of two diabetes medicines that help control blood sugar levels. Duetact is intended for patients with type 2 diabetes who do not use daily insulin injections.

In August 2007, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it was placing a black box warning on a class of diabetes drugs that includes Duetact. A black box warning is the agency’s strictest warning.
